UWL STUDENTS’ UNION RECOGNISED AS A GOLD STANDARD INVESTOR IN PEOPLE
University of West London Students’ Union has been awarded accreditation against the Investors in People Gold Standard, demonstrating their commitment to realising the potential of their people.
UWLSU has grown from strength to strength in the past few years, more than tripling the number of staff they employ and establishing offices across all three UWL campuses to deliver services to students which promote their academic interests. They currently employ around 130 staff, with the vast majority of them being current UWL students and UWL graduates.
The SU are extremely proud of their high-performing and diverse staff team and state that ‘their ability to achieve their strategic aims is entirely reliant on their people’. This belief was reinforced in 2018 when their efforts were recognised by the National Union of Students when they were awarded ‘Students’ Union of the Year’.
Investors in People is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results. Underpinning the Standard is the Investors in People framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry. Working with clients across the globe, Investors in People enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.
Kat Hackshaw, SU President said "I am really proud that UWLSU has achieved IIP Gold Status. This standard reflects the time and energy that we have put into developing our systems, people and processes over the last 3 years. We have always known that our people are our greatest asset and we look forward to continuing to be a sector leader in this area’.”
