What is it?

Lysistrata persuades the local women in her community to withhold sex to the men in order to take a stand against the patriarchal system that controls them. It isn’t long before the word gets around and soon the whole country is backing Lysistrata’s plan to challenge politics, the supposed ‘war on terrorism’ and the press. First performed in 411 BC, this bawdy anti-war play remains one of the great comedies. Layered with themes of feminism, power and politics.
