UWL Dance

Hey! We're the UWL Ravens - UWL's dance competition team. After a successful few years, we're raring to go onto bigger things and welcome you to the team!

We aim to have a safe and supportive space to let everyone have the chance at weekly classes with industry professionals, and to achieve this, there are no auditions required to join the squad!

When you become a Raven, your membership fees give you access to one dance session a week with our club committee focusing on technique and an exciting routine each week, eventually working towards a competition at the start of 2024.

By joining the Dance Comp Team, you will become one of the many other members of UWL’s renowned sports teams who represent UWL at competitions, including Varsity!!

Membership:

Your fees go towards our amazing studio rehearsal spaces, our fees for competitions, travel, costumes and occasionally a guest teacher.

As a Raven, you will meet people from across the entire Uni campus and colleges who all share a love of dance!!!!

This year our membership fees are £75, which works out to less than £2 a session for the entire year!

Ravens Activities and Training:

• Training - Thursdays 17:30-18:30 (more sessions added as we get closer to comps and adding fitness sessions)
• Social Nights - Wednesdays - we are part of a large community of amazing sports teams at UWL, and we are all looking forward to loads of nights wherewe can all meet up, hang out, and have a good time. Alongside this, we will have our own individual socials and often go for a drink and some chips in Freddie's after Thursday training.
• Competition - We will be going to a couple competitions this year! Last year we went to Surrey and the year before we went to Kingston - both of which we want to return to this year!
• Varsity - Every sports team's favourite part of the year! Over the course of a week, cumulating in the big multi-match day, all sports teams at UWL compete against other Universities to really test their skill and everything they've learnt over the year. The Ravens are honoured to perform inbetween matches and its always followed by a big afterparty which is amazing fun!
• SU Awards - We are eligible for multiple awards categories as a Sports Team, and the event is one of the biggest nights of the year! A red carpet, cocktails, dinner, and of course, an awards show! In 2022 we were crowned Most Improved Student Group of the Year! Everybody has an amazing time and then goes out afterwards if thats what you fancy!

We are on Instagram (@uwldancecomp) and Tiktok (@uwldancecomp). We are really active on the Instagram, and we will use this to post updates about UWL Ravens! We are going to do an Instagram Q&A during Freshers to answer all your queries, and get to know your committee. We've created a Whatsapp group that upon paying your membership you will get a link to - where we will be at hand throughout the year and all our committee are reachable on Instagram aswell.
