Joining a club or society is one of the best possible ways to get more out of your time at UWL. Driven by drama, sport, art or politics? We've got so many ways for you to discover something that will become a part of who you are while delivering the opportunity for you to make life long friends.
From Gaming to Social Work, MNGR to Dance, we have over 30 different societies ready and waiting for you to join. We have a huge selection of cultural, political, academic, arts, media and recreational societies, so there's something for everyone at UWLSU.
But if you don't find what you're looking for you can always start your own.
Joining a society is a brilliant way to meet new people who share your interests and enrich your time here in UWL. It is very easy too, just have a look at the huge range of groups we have and join online.
So if you have any questions, whether it's about joining a society or starting one, then come and visit us in the Students Union or drop us a message.
We have a selection of sports clubs that train weekly throughout the year that are available for all students to join. They accept members at any point in the year and membership is open to any student regardless of their experience level in the sport. So if you have always wanted to start scoring try’s in rugby, climbing the side of mountains or picking up a racket, then joining up to a student club is the way to do it. Beginners are always welcome.
The majority of our sports club compete in two main competitions British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) and London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL).
All of our sports clubs are student-led by current UWL students. Each year members vote to elect a new committee and it’s their job to run the club day-to-day and ensure its members overall wellbeing.
UWLSU Sport is a community where many students meet friends for life. We aim to create an inclusive and diverse environment where you can interact with other UAL students outside of your studies to enhance your university experience.
Also don't forget about our annual sports competition VARSITY! Where every year we play against the University of Westminster to see who is the true champion of sport. This involves a large amount of our sports team and is the largest sporting activity of the year with over 500 students in attendance.
Joining a sports team could just be one of the best decisions you make at university.
