About us:

We are a new sports society aimed at everybody from first-timers to experienced climbers. The climbing society provides an opportunity to challenge yourself, build your fitness level and get involved in our weekly socials in a relaxed, no-pressure environment with students from a range of courses and backgrounds.

What do we do?:

Currently, our main focus is bouldering which is climbing without the need for ropes or harnesses on shorter walls which is perfect if you’re not a fan of heights. We occasionally go indoor top rope climbing and offer opportunities to boulder outdoors throughout the year, finishing with a fun-filled week-long summer outdoor bouldering trip to Fontainebleau in France.

Our regular climbing sessions are on Monday and Friday evenings at 7pm at Ravenswall near Ravenscourt park in Hammersmith which is roughly 35 minutes from UWL St. Mary’s Road campus. There is a group of us who meet at Freddie’s bar at 6pm to travel together if you’re unsure how to get there. There are also opportunities to climb on other days and at different climbing walls depending on availability, this is arranged through our members’ Whatsapp group.

In addition, we meet up for regular socials including karaoke, open mic night, pub crawls and film nights.

Cost/membership:

Your climbing society membership costs £40 and gives you access to our discounted entry rate at Ravenswall all day Mondays and Fridays and every other day at off-peak times. The entry rate at Ravenswall for society members is £8.50 per climb which includes shoe rental and chalk. The regular peak-time student rate for those who are not society members is £16.20  (£12.50 plus £3.70 for shoe hire).

Still unsure?:

Non-members are welcome to come along on a Monday and climb with us although only members can get the discounted entry.
