About us

We are the UWL Men’s Football club. We provide the opportunity for players of all abilities and experience levels to get involved with football.

We currently have two teams which play 11-aside matches in the BUCS leagues on Wednesday afternoons, and train for two hours on Monday evenings with three professional coaches.

In addition, we have a great social scene and meet every Wednesday after games and into the night. The club provides a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and make your university experience an exciting one.

We are constantly looking for new ways to provide opportunities for our members to play and interact socially and hope you can be a part of what makes this club so great.

Membership

A membership to the Mens Football society will give you the opportunity to become a part of the proud history of the West London Spartans.

We provide competitive fixtures, weekly training sessions and the chance to join a week long foreign tour (widely recognised as the best week of your life).

The membership fee goes towards making all of this happen, paying for travel to matches, the kit and equipment, our coaches and lots more besides.

Once you join, you will have the opportunity to meet, play and interact with our new and existing members, make friendships that will last a lifetime, and turn your university experience into an unforgettable one.

Events and Activities

  • Competitive matches in the BUCS leagues on Wednesday afternoons (Starting Jan 2021)
  • 2 Hour training sessions with professional coaches on Monday nights (starting in late October/November)
  • Socials every Wednesday which include club nights, chilled Fifa nights and mixing with the university's other sports clubs.

COMMITTEE POSITIONS

Below are the positions available when putting yourself forward for a committee position. Some groups may have additional roles to others, so make sure you check them out!

GROUP ADMINISTRATOR - Click Here

  • This role is a new role created to reduce the demand on the President and add value to the treasurer role, therefore, it includes elements of the Treasurer roles. It’s been designed to incorporate the behind-the-scenes administrative work and the financial elements that go into running a student group.

CLUB CAPTAIN - Click Here

  • This role is new and includes elements of the President & Captains roles. It’s been designed to incorporate the on-field direction and the organisational elements that go into running a successful sports club on and off the field of play. This person doesn’t need to be the best player, but more of a leader who has a vision for the club. Club captains will be assisted by team captains where applicable.

EVENTS MANAGER - Click Here

  • This role is a new role created to add value to the previous social sec role, therefore, it includes elements of the social sec role. It’s been designed to incorporate the behind-the-scenes administrative work, the financial elements and the face-to-face elements that go into running effective and successful student group events and social activities.

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER - Click Here

  • This role is new and includes elements of a social media sec that some student groups have had in previous years and other means of communication. It’s been designed to ensure consistency of your student groups message across all communications and to give you a single point of contact for comms. This person will oversee the student group communications.

COVID OFFICER - Click Here

  • This is a new role in response to the Covid Pandemic. We will be working with you to ensure that your activity is Covid safe and that you are your members are aware of the latest GOV measures.

  • This is a sports-specific role that will take the lead of the on-field match day activities. They will lead the team to perform to the best of their ability and will lead by example. They will be a role model for their members. They will liaise with facilities, referees and opposition on a match day.
