London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism (LGCHT)

Ancha Joof, President

What's your name and what course do you study?

My name is Ruby Wood, I’m Studying Air Transport Management (Airline and Airport Specialist) going into 3rd year

Why did you decide to become a school rep?

I wanted to be a school representative as I thoroughly enjoyed representing my course as a course rep in years 1 and 2. Being a course representative provided me with some great opportunities and challenges, and I wanted to take that to the next level. The school representative last year did such an amazing job at checking in on us all, and I really wanted to follow in his footsteps. Being a student can be a an amazing and rewarding part of life, but that doesn’t mean it comes without its challenges, and I always strive to be a person that people can go to for help with whatever they need!

What do you hope to achieve in this role?

I hope to make a positive impact on the student experience by listening to students’ needs and requests and implementing changes wherever I can. Promoting student welfare and safety is another huge aspect of what I hope to achieve. Whatever a student may be going through, either academically or personally, I hope to be able to aid and assist them in whichever way I can, whether it be helping directly or signposting

How do you plan to represent and support students in your school?

I will always take the time to listen to students’ concerns, and I will always do my best to accommodate the needs of students, as I want everyone’s time at UWL to be an enjoyable and rewarding one. I am also a huge advocate for making students aware of the support networks that they have around them at UWLSU, the services really are fantastic, and they will always do their best to help students however they can! I look forward to seeing and hearing from lots of you very soon. I’m always here to help!
