Women In Music
Tue 23 April 2019 19:30-22:30
“WOMEN IN MUSIC ” is a networking event specifically designed to inform women that are aiming to professionally work in the
music industry. Nowadays, it is not uncommon for women to encounter inequality, stereotypes and discrimination in professional
working environments. As a consequence, the main goal of the event is to support and empower young women and beginners
about the music industry through documentation and evidence of successful women.

1) CONFERENCE-LIKE DISCUSSION PANELS. Three female guests coming from different musical backgrounds have been
invited to speak to the audience. These guests will be sharing their experience as professionals in the music industry,
highlighting the key obstacles they faced throughout their career as women, the gatekeepers they encountered and the factors
that brought them to work professionally. Each guest will be speaking for no more than 20 minutes. Short breaks will be
included between each of the panels.
2) LIVE PERFORMANCES. Two up-and-coming female acts will be joining the stage to perform original music to the audience.
This will be a great chance for the artists to promote their music and to reach out to a wider audience.
3) NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY. In-between the breaks, the audience will have the chance to create connections, meet new
people and establish potential collaborations. Despite having discussion panels and live performances, the event mainly
remains a networking event, and the aim is to connect people from different branches of the music industry. In order to do this, the staff will be offering wearable badges with different roles written on them, such as artist / manager / songwriter / producer, to
facilitate the networking process and make it easier for guests to recognise and choose which people they may want to
approach and connect to.
