Have you tried Cheerleading before? If not, have you ever considered it?

In the Warriors Cheer team you will learn a variety of new skills including a Jump, Tumble, Stunt and Dance.

The majority of Cheers' members had never cheered before they joined, so no previous experience is required!

1. What is your student group?

My name is Kiera and I’m the Captain of the UWL Warriors Cheerleading team, Shyanne is our Vice-Captain, Cyan is our Treasurer and Lottie is our Social Sec.

2. What does your group do?

We have 2 amazing teams, our Level 1 Competition team, that meet on a Monday evening with our fabulous coach and work on stunts, tumbles, jumps and dance in preparation for our competition at the end of the year.

We also have our wonderful Spirit Sideline team that meet once a week to learn chants, dances and each Wednesday, supports our fellow UWL sports teams at their fixtures. No experience is needed to be part of our family, just enthusiasm and willingness to try new things.

Each week we have Wednesday socials, from chilled movie nights to boozy cocktail nights, we have socials to suit everybody. Don’t worry, despite the current situation our committee have online socials lined up for our members so keep an eye on our WhatsApp chat for information.

3. Why should you join our group?

There are lots of reasons why you should join our team! It’s a great way to get out of your comfort zone and try something new in a friendly and encouraging environment. Cheer is also a great way to keep fit and raise your stamina and have a lot of fun while doing it. During our training sessions our team creates such a welcoming and supportive environment. With both our Spirit Sideline and Competition memberships you are able to attend our fun-filled weekly socials. So whether you are completely new to cheerleading, or you have years of training, we would love you to join our family and become part of the UWL warriors.

4. How much is it to join?

Our Competition membership is £62. This covers the cost of a 2 hour training session with our fully qualified coach, insurance in the unlikely event that it is required, competition entry fee and travel to the event, access to our weekly social events and a membership for our sideline team, should you wish to be part of both teams.

Spirit Sideline membership is £31 and this will cover the cost of a 2 hour training session on a Thursday evening, and you can also attend our weekly Wednesday socials which is an amazing opportunity to bond with the team and at larger events, meet people from other UWL teams. By purchasing a membership for either of our teams you will be added to a WhatsApp group where we will keep you updated on training dates and upcoming socials!
