UWLSU WINS STUDENTS’ UNION OF THE YEAR
The University of West London Students’ Union (UWLSU) has been awarded two National Union of Students Awards at the 2018 NUS Awards in Birmingham. UWLSU has been named ‘Students’ Union of the Year’ and were also awarded the ‘Participation Award’, becoming the first students’ union in London to win both awards in the history of the event.
The NUS Awards celebrate the work of millions of students and staff in hundreds of students’ unions across the United Kingdom. The awards cover categories across all areas of students unions’ and recognise the work on engagement, influence, campaigns and contributions that they make to their local communities and universities.
The NUS awards are judged by an independent panel from across the UK. The panel noted that it was clear to see how UWLSU are proud of their values, from the importance on partnership, reaching out to students or putting in place activities which contribute to UWLSU’s overall success towards building a sustainable future for its’ students. They commented on the highly diverse nature of UWLSU’s work and the sector leading projects that are now being recognised throughout the HE sector.
